Tension endangers all: Borujerdi
Noting the ongoing maneuvers by the U.S., Britain, Australia, Kuwait, Bahrain and some other regional states in the Persian Gulf, Borujerdi expressed regret that regional countries have accepted to stage joint war games with the United States which is a trans-regional country sharing no geographical commonalities or links with the Persian Gulf region.
Reminding similar joint maneuvers by the U.S. and Britain in the Persian Gulf region, the MP said Iran does not attach any significance or special value to such a move. Meantime, he underlined Iran's emphasis on the necessity of safeguarding the security of the sensitive Persian Gulf by the regional states, adding, "We believe that the presence of the U.S., British or any other alien forces in the region does not serve the interests of any country and that these are the regional countries that should safeguard their own security."
Pointing to the sensitivity of the region, the lawmaker, warned that tension is detrimental to all regional states, and advised the Persian Gulf states to avoid tension through collective cooperation.
Borujerdi reminded that tranquility in the sensitive region of the Persian Gulf is a grave necessity and a must.
